Being a digital nomad is the idea that you can work from anywhere in the world, as long as you have a laptop and internet connection. But the beauty is not just about being able to work anywhere—it also opens you up to the possibility of exploring new places while still having the financial freedom to move around as needed.

If you are considering being a digital nomad, then Canada might be worth looking into. It’s essentially a way forward for you to live in a beautiful country with more opportunities than what you have at home.

Why Canada?

daily

Canada is ranked as one of the top countries in the world when it comes to quality of life and for good reason. From beautiful landscapes to the weather, making it an ideal destination for vacationers, expats or for living. The country is known for its hospitality, affordable, high-quality education, and inclusive, multicultural spirit. Canada also takes pride in its inclusive and welcoming immigration policies. Because the government actively encourages immigration and values the contributions made by newcomers. So if you’re looking to become digital nomad, give Canada some thought!

How To Apply

Occasions

As of June 2023, Canada declared that digital nomads working for a foreign company can work in the country for up to six months, and go through the same process that they would if they were tourists.

The first thing you need to do to confirm if you’re authorised to travel to Canada as a visitor. You will need either a visitor visa, or if you’re from a visa-exempt country you’ll need an electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).

You can apply for an eTA online. It costs CAD$7 and may be available in a matter of minutes. Sometimes, the authorization does not come through for a couple of days, so it is a good idea to apply ahead of time. But if you’re applying for a visitor visa formally known as a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV), then you can visit the Canadian government website.

Where To Stay As A Digital Nomad In Canada

Occasions

Of course, where you stay in Canada as a digital nomad depends on what you want to get out of your time in Canada, as well as your personal taste in travel activities. Do you like the countryside or are you a city person at heart? Is this a money-saving trip or you don’t mind paying more for accommodations? Are you staying in one place or would you like to travel around? Whatever your decision is, choose the place that’s truly right for you. These are the four major cities: Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal and Calgary you can start from.
