Celebrating Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day With CadRemit

CadRemit’s three-in-one Independence Day celebration.

Nigerians recognise October 1 as the day the country gained independence from British colonial rule. In 2026, this day marks 66 years of independence, six and a half decades of a journey shaped by its people, cultures, challenges, and the many changes the country has experienced along the way.

Its story has been shaped not only by the events that have defined its history, but also by the everyday lives, hopes, resilience, creativity, and ambitions of the people. From the way we speak, what we build, the music we create, and the communities we nurture, Nigerians have continued to leave their mark in the world. So the Independence Day celebration has become more than a date on the calendar. But an opportunity to look back at how far Nigeria has come.

That’s why we decided to celebrate this milestone differently this year. Keep reading on to see what we have planned.

CadRemit’s Three-Way Independence Day Celebration

Since gaining independence from British rule in 1960, Nigeria has gone through significant political, economic and social changes. Reaching 66 is therefore more than just another year on the calendar. To honour this milestone, we’ve planned to do:

1. Independence trivia – ₦330,000 shared among 66 winners

Think you know Nigeria’s independence history and CadRemit? You have several chances to prove it. Starting at 9:00 AM on October 1, we will be putting your knowledge to the test with trivia that will be released every two hours on our X page.

How to participate:

  • Follow CadRemit on all social media pages.
  • Answer the trivia questions correctly.
  • Quote or reshare the campaign post using #HappyIndependenceDayNigeria and #CadRemitGiveaway

66 lucky participants will be selected at random to each receive ₦5,000. So, keep an eye on our social pages and get ready to participate.

2. Win a share of the 300,000 CMT points prize pool

The celebration continues beyond social media. We’ve got a special reward right in the CadRemit mobile app. Simply open the Independence Day box in the app and stand a chance to be among 66 customers who win a share of a 300,000 CMT points prize pool.

3. 12-Hour Independence hot rate

There’s also a limited-time offer for customers looking to send money on October 1, 2026. From 6 AM to 6 PM Nigerian time, CadRemit will offer a special Independence Day rate slash.

The window is limited to the day, so if you’re planning a transfer, keep the time in mind and check the available rate during the promotional period. It’s one more way CadRemit is making the 66th Independence Day a little more rewarding for our customers.

Nigeria at 66 is worth marking, and we are making it more exciting for you. So be a part of the celebration.

Happy Independence Day, Nigeria! 🇳🇬
